Our Story

The creation of Kindly, Kuimoto is a truly inspiring story of resilience!

Born from a series of profound personal hardships, including being abandoned by her mother at 2 years old, experiencing homelessness during college, the heartbreaking passing of her sister to breast cancer in 2021, an ectopic pregnancy in 2022, and a mental breakdown in 2023. She knew that she needed to restart therapy and go on a healing journey.

During this journey she was diagnosed with not only mental health problems, but also problems with her physical health. Camila was diagnosed with: ADHD, OCD and endometriosis. With the help of various experts she realised that talk and pills were not enough to help her mental and physical health.

Her husband shared with her a concept that his Shinto nun aunt talked to him about when he was a child: the transformative principle of MA.

MA is the Japanese religio-aesthetic interpretation of emptiness in time/space. As how in Kentsugi, emptiness is created by the broken dish (the MA is the space between the cracks) and the cracks are filled with gold; at Kindly Kuimoto we want to fill the MA of everyday life with love, healing and joy.

Our founder

Born in Colombia to a midlelower class family, the younger of 4 sisters of a mixed family. Camila had a rough childhood filled with trauma both physical and psychological from an abusive and unstable household.

After arriving at he US in 2009 Camila was relentlessly bullied by her peers for her accent and nationality, to the point of a suicide attempt. Thankfully she found her way in high school with drama and dance clubs. After highschool Camila had a full-ride scholarship to a top grade school, however due to her immigration status this scholarship was rescinded.

To this major defeat Camila did not give up and instead enrolled in school in her home country. After a two year program, homelessness and a very toxic relationship; Camila came back to the US. After coming back and settling in once more, she found the love of her life and they married in 2020.

After getting married She went back to school to get Associates on paralegal studies. Despite juggling a full-time job, studies, and volunteering with autistic children, she never gave up graduating on the Dean's list!

Working on the legal field for 4 years and burning out, she changed careers to the corporate life. Working and learning at ZS associates she did a lot of community building through Asians@ZS also she volunteered and did charity through ZSCares.

Armed with years of experience in the hardships of life and work, Camila has designed: workshops, programs and events to empower you to  of fill the MA of every day life with joy connection and healing!
